The con of connors approach is you’re vulnerable to a strike whilst feeling out the opponent. Khabib highlighted this when he dropped Connor with an over hand right, if you can eat the shot like he did against Chad Mendez it’s ok, but if you have a weaker chin or a stronger opponent you can get dropped. Personally I would cover up with my left while feeling with the right, then counter from cover position, makes the counter less effective but protects you better
